Obama's Arrogance Shows in VP Selection

If there's one thing that pundits have made clear: Obama will not choose Hillary as his VP, should he get the nomination. And you have to wonder: What is going through this man's mind, that he honestly thinks he can flip a middle finger to the 17 million people who voted for Hillary?

If I were running for president, and my opponent had actually gotten MORE VOTES than I did, that would be the person I'd want as my VP. Because it stands to reason that I would have a better chance of WINNING if said opponent was on my side.

So why isn't Obama picking Hillary? Does he hate her that much? If so, what does this say about Obama? Doesn't this show that a man who says he's about "hope and change" and "not the politics as usual" is in reality a bitter, petty man, who can't overcome his personal distaste for the greater good? If he can't reach across the aisle and give Hillary the VP slot, how on earth will he able to work with Republicans or others that he dislikes?

For all Obama's calls for "unity," he is patently unable to practice what he preaches. And that makes him a hypocrite of the highest order.

Where's the love, Obama? Where's the forgiveness? Where is setting aside the chip on your shoulder for the greater good? Because based on your behavior, Obama, I see you as a petty, vindictive man who doesn't have any heart or ability to transcend differences for a higher purpose.

With all that, one has to wonder, is Obama just suicidal? Does he actively want to lose the election by alienating Clinton's supporters? Is it possible, then, that he's actually a fall guy? Perhaps all those corporate donations to him were to pay him off for losing. Stranger things have happened.

I am certainly not going to vote for Obama on the off chance that he's purposefully trying to throw the election...but you have to wonder about this man's lack of basic common sense.

As a proud Obama supporter, I ask a reasonable question: Is is the Democratic Party or the HIllary party?

I appreciate your enthusaism but the threats and spoiled behavior that you wont vote Dem if your candidate is unable to overturn fair elections in all the sates (and yes they have all been fair / yes, i agree fl and mi should be seated)

do you think its right for hillary to try to dictate every step of the process. The claim that only 100% of the FL and MI delegates is clear proof that resolving the issue is not the goal.

McCain is our enemy not each other.
I hope you will find that your canddidate has not run a campaign that allowed her a chance to win.

We don't want Bush to behave the way he does. Should Hillary be allowed to defy the rules, ignore the fair elections, etc.

Uunity is the goal, and beating
McCain.

If you really feel "teaching Obama a lesson" is more important that letting the GOP destroy America, then I think you should leave the party because your behavior does not reflect true support of Democratic core values.

I hope you will take a reasonable stance going forward.

I don't think that Obama is ~trying~ to lose the election. I think Obama and his surrogates in the media have a different goal. Their goal is to have the first black man receive the nomination from the Democratic party. They have gamed the election to that end.

The unfortuinate reality is that the game plan that results in the first black man to receive the nomination of the Democratic party is not the same game plan that wins the general election. I think that is plainly apparent in the polling data that is now available.

To the first commenter: If "unity" is the goal, then why hasn't Obama put a stop to all this by clearly offering Clinton the VP spot?

Don't ask me to act in unity when the candidate can't even do it himself.

If you Obama supporters want unity, then ask your man to put Hillary in the VP slot. Nothing less will work. Don't blame me for the fact that your man is insulting me and other Hillary supporters by snubbing her.

Even if Obama is awarded the democratic slot, and even if he were to choose Hillary as his running mate; I still will not vote for him. To me he does not represent what the Democratic party stands for. He has nowhere near enough experience to be in the position he seeks, and his associations are questionable (to say the very least). Hillary is far too experienced to be in a vice-presidential position beside this arrogant wannabe.

to first anonymous, anything you say won't make us feel like unifying behind obama. he has burnt his bridges with millions of us and we can never vote in someone who is being arrogant by passing over states he can't win, who goes to states to ask for their votes in november but he doesn't want their now, who uses the law to take off names on a ballot so that he is the only one running... there is so much more. he is shady with his associations of people. he is condescending and hypocritical when saying lay off my wife when he tried to blame racism on bill clinton... i wouldn't even ask this guy to mow my lawn and i seriously even doubt his ability as a senator at this point. he is all words and his actions so far don't match his words... he has snubbed hillary supporters saying he will just find new ones... it's okay if you don't get this all, but millions of us do... that the dnc is passing up the most qualified, ready, already fully vetted, tenacious, courageous candidate for obama is making me so sad. it is like affirmative action gone wrong. there are millions of us who just don't buy him and after bush we don't buy our leaders at their word period. so obama can just go suck it for all i care, he hasn't earned my vote, mccain is at least the devil i know while obama is the devil i don't know. and i can never vote for the devil i don't know ever because who knows what they might while, i have a feeling of what mccain would do because he has an actual record to back him up on how he votes... but it all doesn't matter anyway, because i have the women's intuition that the dnc really does not want to lose their base in the end, they would be idiots if they did, they would be half a party if they nominate obama. so i think in the end they will come home to their base and choose hillary otherwise, they are just plain dumbasses who have ruined the party for 20 years or more... go hillary 08

indayhill, when did going to Vietnam and killing innocent children and women makes someone a hero? Even vets who served in that war, like Kerry, state it was nothing more than a bloodbath and never should have happened. Serving your country, great, but never having the moral compass to realize you were duped and used by those in power, and were sent to kill innocent people, makes him far from a hero.

When did wanting to take away fair pay, health insurance, a woman's right to control her own body, etc.,make someone a hero?

When did calling your own wife the "c-word" make someone a hero?

When did singing "bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" make someone a hero? Is it funny to joke about killing children?

When did courting the endorsement of a preacher who who believes that Hitler was doing God's work make someone a hero?

It is enough that some Clnton supporters are willing to either sit this election out or write Clinton's name in, possibily allowing a man who will set us back God knows how many years to become POTUS-- but to call that man a hero? Obama said this, I don't agree with him but I understand why he does it because he is, after all, a politician trying to get elected. What is your excuse?

Hillary or Bust said...

"possibily allowing a man who will set us back God knows how many years"

McCain is not going to "set us back God knows how many years." He is more of the same if anything, and on a positive note, he at least acknowledges there are environmental issues that need to be dealt with.

There's a reason why we have this system called checks and balances. Most Democrats saying they are voting for McCain instead of Obama are also planning on voting straight Democratic ticket so that congress provides some balance.

I can handle four more years of a Republican president for the longer term goal of waking up the Democratic party and showing them that they can't discount women.

I would also rather have a moderate Republican in power than a cult-leader who seems to short-circuit common sense in his followers.

Finally, if Iraq is your issue: Don't kid yourself that Obama is going to come in and suddenly pull out all the troops, saving all the lives of the little Iraqi children. Now that we're there, we can't just pull out overnight, because the country is not stable and civil war could ensue. So don't think that a vote for Obama is somehow going to save lives automatically...these things need to be thought through, and knee-jerk reacting won't help.

Hillary or Bust,

The environment is actually the most important issue to me--no world, nothing else to care about!

As far as Iraq goes, I agree that nobody, including Obama, is going to be able to take us out of Iraq the way that we all wish it could happen--easily, cleanly, living in a dream world. But he would e far superior to someone who has no problem keeping us there, actively engaged militarily--which our military cannot sustain--, and on the same road as we are on now.

My dad and step-mom are in Iraq, my father is the refugee coordinator for the State Dept. and my step-mother is a social worker so I hear first hand about the mess and the horrors. They were hoping that they could do some good there, it is an uphill battle that is frustrated at many turns.

No matter what we do, or who is elected POTUS, we will not be able to completely, realistically, pull out of Iraq for many years to come. But the opinion of many, many people (including Iraqis) who are there is that civil war will happen sooner or later, regardless of what we do. Sad, huh?

As far as the Court and McCain, judges are appointed for life. What happens if the Republicans gain a majority in the House or the Senate sometime in the future? No checks, no balances, just activist judges and a Congress only happy to comply.

Please believe me, my common sense has not been "short-circuted" and I do not follow Obama, I support his candidacy. I am a mother, I have 3 tremendous young children, and I would never allow my common sense or ability to look at things in a critical manner to be lost to anyone because that would be to the detriment of my children. I don't think Obama is perfect, who is. He is a politician, just like Clinton. But I do believe he is the better candidate, certainly far superior to McCain.
